August started off with a week vacation with my family. Otherwise, the rest of the month was pretty typical.
First up was the beach vacation on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Obviously, the days were spent in a bathing suit but the nights ranged from the family casual dinner to a date night to the annual night where we eat at a local favorite restaurant and then hit the rides on the boardwalk for the kids. Note that I didn’t bring any shoes other then flats for this trip. This is from the night we arrived and by the time we were unpacked, it was a rush to get ready for dinner. I quickly grabbed this striped high neck tank from Old Navy (similar or similar), white jeans and threw on some shoes (similar). Necklace is the wishbone charm from Stella & Dot (which is no longer available, similar) on the simple ball chain and earrings are small white gold pave hoops I’ve had for many years (similar). This was from a night that we went to this event called Sundaes in the Park where a local band plays music and you can buy ice cream sundaes. We also bring our own dinner to eat beforehand. I’m wearing old Gap slim jean shorts (similar) with a loose tank (here), flip flops (similar), Stella & Dot necklace (retired – was called Sahara, similar), and Longchamp Le Pliage purse. While were at the beach, we were lucky enough to have my parents babysit the kids one night so we could go on a date. This gray tank (similar) I bought this summer from Nordstrom is by Treasure & Bond and has a really fun back. I just threw it on with white jeans, silver sandals (similar), the wishbone charm necklace again from Stella & Dot (which is no longer available, similar) on the simple ball chain, grabbed my little pouch from my purse and off we went to a Mexican restaurant. And yes, I was nervous about wearing white jeans to a Mexican restaurant since I’m known to get food on myself but thank goodness, I kept them clean this time! 😉
Right after we were back from the beach, we celebrated my sister’s 40th birthday by going out to dinner downtown in DC. Best picture of outfit is me with my family before we left. I’m wearing an old white dress from Loft (similar), wedge sandals (similar), old long gold chain necklace (similar), beaded bracelet (bought last summer at a boutique in Raleigh) plus handmade chain/friendship bracelet from here.
This is a striped tee from Banana Republic from a few years ago (similar), an old pair of Hudson jean shorts that are actually 2 sizes bigger then my normal size now but I wear them as “boyfriend” jean shorts and rolled them up an extra time (similar/newer version I also own with a little distressing), and Ipanema sandals (this year’s version). Necklace is this one (also comes in silver and yellow gold) and bracelet is this. Earrings are old gold hoops (similar).Ignoring my weird face in the photo above, I am extremely relieved that I can take my girls to the gym with me so that over these last few weeks of summer before school starts, I was able to keep up a regular gym routine. Here I’m wearing my ” new”favorite exercise capris with a white semi-loose tank (similar) and a black sports bra. (I go to yoga 2x a week typically so that is why I’m wearing flip flops here). Flip flops are by Reef.
Regular day of errands and keeping busy with kids called for an old white tank from J.Crew (similar), cut off jean shorts (see my post about the ones I’m wearing here; similar to above), and gold flip flops (similar color here) with a gold heart necklace by Jennifer Zeuner (similar), handmade chain/friendship bracelet, a beaded bracelet bought last summer at a boutique in Raleigh and little gold huggie earrings (similar in white gold except mine aren’t pave).
We also celebrated my Dad’s 70th birthday by going to dinner with my parents and some of their friends at a local restaurant. I’m wearing an old top from Banana Republic (similar), black legging jeans, shoes are here (I really like Toms wedge sandals if you can tell!). Bracelet is really old from a random boutique at our local beach, necklace is my small white gold diamond solitaire necklace (similar) and white gold small hoop earrings (similar).
Then, we had another birthday celebration! My older daughter turned 7 and we spent the day at Hershey Park, PA. I had to dress for the heat, comfort of standing in line and a 2 hour car ride. I went with a loose gray tank from J.Crew, shorts, and sneakers (mine are from last summer, new version colors here), and a cross body bag (mine is the cement color, new version of this bag is here). Lucky us it was 90+ degrees that day and this photo is early in the day before we were all tired and sweaty. 🙂
Last but not least was my younger daughter’s birthday party. Her actual birthday is at the beginning of September so we did the party a little early this year since it actually falls over Labor Day weekend. The party was just at a local tumbling gym. I always try to dress up a little bit when it’s my child having a party while also staying casual. I’m wearing a tank I bought earlier in the summer (similar), one of my favorite pairs of distressed jeans, sandals (this year’s version), long gold chain necklace (similar) , old heart stud earrings (similar), and my favorite bracelet and ring (newer, larger version – mine is gold and silver) from David Yurman.
And then FINALLY, school starts today! Woohoo!!
