I had a few extra minutes the other day and realized I wasn’t too far from my favorite local boutique, South Moon Under. I hadn’t been into the store in over a month so I was excited to stop in and see what new items they had for the Fall. I only grabbed items that I was interested in adding to my closest because I either don’t have anything like it already or I could use it for practical reasons. And of course, I grabbed a pair of jeans or two since I was wearing shorts and it’s always a good excuse to try on new jeans. Ha! By the way, you’ll notice that the lighting in their dressing rooms is really bright and oddly flattering and my face looks odd because I was concentrating on getting the right shot. 😉
First, I put on a simple white tank I got off the floor to try on with these Blank Vegan Leather Leggings. They were comfortable and easy to get on and priced reasonably at $98. However, they were really low in the back and I could almost feel my tush hanging out in the back when I bent down. No bueno for me. (I was trying to show the cool detailing at the waist bad in the second picture by tucking the tank top in a bit).
Then, I tried on these awesome Rag & Bone distressed skinny jeans with unfinished hems (I am wearing my usual size 26). Gosh I love these. I tried them on with this simple black long sleeve top from Free People. I was debating about trying on the top because I’m not usually a fan of Free People but finally decided it was worth it because it can’t hurt to have a more fitted black top in my closet for wearing under vests. Plus, this one had thumb holes so I went ahead and brought it to try on and was pleasantly surprised. It feels a little thin but not sheer and was very comfortable. It has a fine rib and there is a seam down the middle but it’s hard to see it once it’s on. I didn’t buy it today but I would consider going back later in the Fall to purchase it. I also, sadly, left the jeans behind for now because I just couldn’t justify the price tag for the moment. (PSST They just went on sale at Nordstrom since I started this post. Woohoo!).
I kept the same jeans on and tried on this turtleneck sweater from Free People. I had recently read that turtlenecks may be making a comeback this Fall and I had already planned to add some more plain black pieces to my wardrobe so this seemed like a good option. Normally, Free People items don’t look good on me because they are often too loose, too long or too much fabric so I don’t gravitate towards them at all. This one seemed different, and well, what would you know but I actually liked it! It is actually more like a cowl neck which is more comfortable for me. Plus, it is soft, has a good weight to it (not too thick or thin) and is basically like a soft thermal. The hi-low hem adds some interest to it. This is the one item I actually bought that’s how much I liked it!
Lastly, I tried on these high rise A Gold E Jeans in the Onassis wash with two different BlankNYC Vegan and Ponte Jackets. The first one I grabbed in gray I forgot to take a picture of me in it. It is REALLY soft but not as comfortable as I would have liked in the arms (on sale at Nordstrom!). Then, I tried on the green one below because this color was on sale specifically at South Moon Under. (it also has been around in black and cream for some time now). But, I just think it was too much material on my small frame (the sales girl agreed). Plus, I have something really similar to it already in my closet in black. But if you don’t have one of these yet, I highly recommend buying one for the Fall and Winter because I think they’re very versatile. Oh, the jeans were really comfortable and soft but I did size down in them. If you’re on the hunt for a high rise pair of jeans, I highly recommend checking them out.
So, that was my big shopping outing for the day. When I’m at the beach, I plan to check out the locations of South Moon Under there because each location carries different items that you can see and try on in person (Everything in the stores are available online!). Yeah, more new Fall clothes for me to check out! 🙂
