Active Wear for this Fall – Athleta & Lululemon

I was doing errands the other day at Tysons Corner Center in Virginia and I stopped in at one of my favorite stores – Athleta. Lucky me, I went when they had just gotten a whole bunch of new items in the store. Perfect timing because I was looking for a new printed exercise top (I just bought my first printed top in August, this striped tank from Lululemon). Plus, now that we are finally into the month of September, I could use a few new layering tops for wearing to/from the gym.

My gym attire tends to consist of tops with built in bras that I mainly wear for yoga, a few loose tanks to be worn with a sports bra underneath for any gym activity, cropped or full length leggings that are also versatile enough to wear for any gym activity, and layering tops/jackets to wear to/from the gym. I lean towards black, white, gray, purple, deep blue and the occasional random other color and print.

Also, I should note that one of the reasons I love Athleta is that they have a good selection of clothes, quality fabrics (I especially am a fan of the layering tops that offer the “no stink” technology), AND I can use my Gap Rewards toward my purchase. Win win to me!

First up was this tank – it is a loose tank from their popular Chi line of tops that you wear with a sports bra underneath (wearing this sports bra, which I own in white). Exactly what I was looking for. The pattern was a bit different from what I would normally go for but I decided to give it a go and was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t buy it for now but I would consider purchasing it later.

The cropped leggings were simple black and comfortable. I just grabbed them to try some of the clothes on with.

Next was this tank with a built in bra. It is a light pink, which may be hard to tell from the picture. It was comfortable and easy to get on. But as you can see with the pale color, it shows more then I would like in the stomach area. In this picture I’m wearing the tank with the same black cropped leggings from the picture above but in the striped version. Obviously, I didn’t buy this tank. The striped leggings were different but still not sure I’m ready to embrace stripes on my bottom half. 😉

While I had the the last outfit on, I threw on this layering shirt I was curious about. It was perfectly soft, comfortable and loose. And, it has a cute little slit in the lower back for added style. Plus, it has the anti-smell technology! I’m wearing it in the black heather in an XS. I did buy this one but I bought it in the XXS since it just looked a little bit better.

Since I love blue, I decided to try these leggings for something fun and different. I grabbed a blue tank to try it on with. I thought the leggings were comfortable and if I was in the market for a pair of printed leggings, I would have bought them. The tank was also great but for now, I passed on both. I just didn’t need either.

Loved this long sleeve top! This is from their Fastest Track line (I own a tank from the line). I just put the top over the blue tank from the previous picture. The space dye colors are really cool. This was the dark gray but I think I like the blue color better. Either way, it is super soft and stretchy and perfect for layering! It has the cool thumb holes, too. I will likely buy this as soon as the weather actually turns cool here!

Loved this tank – it’s the same as the light pink one in the earlier picture but obviously in a cooler pattern in some colors I love. And with the pattern it hid my flaws better.  I’m wearing it with the same black leggings in the first picture. And,  I actually bought this one!

Just took the outfit above and put this top on over it. Loved it!! It was soft, warm, and the color was really pretty in person. I didn’t buy this top FOR NOW. I will likely buy it in a month or so and I’ll keep my fingers crossed it’s still available. Just couldn’t spend any more money today and had to prioritize my purchases for what I came in for and how soon I’ll need it.

Also, the Derek Lam line for Athelta was in the stores and the pieces are really great in person, they just didn’t work with my current wardrobe needs. Here are my favs:

I peeked in at Lululemon recently, too. I didn’t have time to try anything on but here are few of my favorites from there:

I actually own the Wild Tank in a white/light pink that I bought back in February. I love the gray version for the Fall. And the Sunset Salutation tank I will be trying on soon! 🙂

Happy shopping!
